100 Things About Moi

1. I'm not a stay-at-home-mom.
2. I'm not a working mom either.
3. I'm both, in a sense.
4. I work full-time for our church as the secretary and my daughter comes to work with me every day.
5. We've done this since she was born.
6. It's the perfect situation for me, even though it feels like twice the work.
7. I'm so fortunate I get to bring her with me to work.
8. I absolutely love my job now.
9. I love being able to work in and for a church.
10. I don't miss Corporate America at. all.
11. Even though the money was nice.
12. The stress was not worth it.
13. In fact, I'll probably never go back to my "old career."
14. We moved to New Orleans after Katrina.
15. Our neighborhood had 12 feet of water in it.
16. They didn't get power back until 6 months after the hurricane.
17. I have several friends who lost everything they owned.
18. But if you ask them, they are better off now than before Katrina.
19. I get a little nervous at the start of every hurricane season.
20. My husband is in seminary getting his Masters of Divinity in Christian Apologetics.
21. He wanted to be a missionary of some sort.
22. God is calling him to be a pastor.
23. I told him he will still have foreign mission opportunities as a pastor.
24. He's traveled all over the world on mission trips.
25. He goes to India every year for a conference to train Indian pastors.
26. I hope to go with him soon.
27. I've only been on one mission trip, and it was in the United States.
28. I have a heart for Muslim women and would love to do something where I could minister to them.
29. New Orleans has a huge Muslim community.
30. Who knows, maybe I can work with something here.
31. I hate the French Quarter.
32. I wish I knew more about the Bible.
33. I'm learning though.
34. I feel like God is calling me to minister to other women with the Word.
35. Which of course would require me to know the Word.
36. So I'm taking classes, too, strictly on books of the Bible.
37. I've only taken Romans & Genesis so far.
38. I can't tell you how ignorant they made me feel.
39. But at the same time they challenged me to study harder.
40. I think I'll take Hebrews this fall.
41. I'd like to take John the next time it's offered.
42. I'm horrible at Scripture memorization.
43. But I'm good at paraphrasing.
44. I don't know if that's a good thing or a bad thing.
45. I can remember the "addresses." It's probably because I love numbers.
46. I wanted to work on Wall Street in high school and college.
47. I'm so glad now that I don't.
48. I did work in investments before I quit to work for a ministry.
49. I loved what I did.
50. I still do freelance tax preparation on the side during tax season.
51. This year I did my first return from Mississippi.
52. Mississippi is much nicer to their residents than Louisiana is.
53. Hopefully Bobby Jindal will change that.
54. I am hopelessly addicted to Lost.
55. I got really angry when Mr. Eko said the way to heaven was only baptism.
56. But what should I expect from the world, right?
57. I was raised Presbyterian.
58. I got saved at 14 and joined the Baptist church.
59. Now even though I am still a Baptist on paper, I attend a non-denominational Spirit-filled church.
60. So I guess I have a pretty diverse religious background.
61. When people ask, I just say, "Christian."
62. I wish Christians were more unified, though I do understand the divisions on doctrinal interpretation.
63. I think it will be important for us to unify as we get closer to the end times.
64. But that's just my opinion.
65. It infuriates me that neither political party is doing anything about the cost of energy.
66. Jeremy Camp is my favorite Christian artist.
67. His song "Beyond Measure" describes my life.
68. My husband took me to his concert for my birthday. It was great.
69. Unfortunately I rarely get to listen to my own music.
70. Princess always wants to listen to her music.
71. I'm not trying to be pretentious calling her Princess.
72. Her name really does mean "princess."
73. I love to cook.
74. Since I'm rarely home, most of my cooking takes place in my crock pot and my rice cooker.
75. My husband doesn't mind, which is really all that matters.
76. I really love to bake.
77. I will experiment with anything when it comes to baking.
78. Unfortunately my husband isn't a sweet-eater.
79. So unless I take my creations to church, they go mostly uneaten.
80. I used to scrapbook before I had a child.
81. That was back when I had something called free time.
82. Now I just print books from iPhoto.
83. (I'm a Mac geek).
84. I sold all my scrapbook stuff on ebay.
85. I cried a little when I shipped everything off.
86. My sleep is very important to me.
87. I will skip a meal in order to sleep.
88. I hate coffee, but I drink a cup every morning because it's the only kid-free time I get to spend with my hubby.
89. I usually turn it white with French Vanilla creamer.
90. Don't ask me how that's affected my diet.
91. I'm very close to my family.
92. My sister-in-law is one of my best friends.
93. I didn't get siblings until I got married.
94. I work with the teenage girls at our church.
95. Teens in New Orleans are very different from teens in small-town, Bible-belt churches.
96. My heart usually breaks once a week for something they are trying/doing/going through.
97. I'm studying to be a Christian counselor.
98. It's very exciting and fulfilling.
99. Hopefully it will help whatever ministry my husband undertakes in the future.
100. But as long as God is behind it, I'm not worried.

I enjoyed the 100 things post. I think we have a lot in common. We have one son. I stay at home with him and work at church. We go to non-denominational spirit filled church. We work with youth. Anyways, I enjoy your blog :)

Just came to your blog via a link and I think it is fantastic. Your daughter is gorgeous and I'm praying for you guys in New Orleans with all those hurricanes headed this way.

Great stuff! I'll definitely be "keeping in tune with you".

I am in love with your blog...but i do have one question. Which seminary is your hubby at? I lived in New Orleans for 3 years, my hubby went to NOBTS. I have some of the same feelings about the city as you. We did have one big blessing while there, my 8 year old.
thanks

Oh, I LOVED this list you made. I think being able to paraphrase Scripture is good. Afterall they were not first said in any of our English translations and as long as your paraphrasing doesn't change the meaning, I don't see anything wrong. But that's my opinion. :)

How cute that you drink coffee just so you can spend time with your husband each morning.

I greatly enjoyed this list and finding out more about you.
